Johnny Scott (M.A. B.Mus.) has 30 years experience as guitarist, musical director and producer. He was Van Morrison’s guitarist and musical director for several years playing on 6 albums, touring Europe, USA, and Canada accompanying special guests Bono, Elvis Costello. Dr. John, Chris Barber and Lonnie Donegan. He recorded with Tom Jones and Bobby Bland and appeared on BBC ‘Later with Jools Holland’.
He recorded with Eddi Reader and Nick Lowe touring Europe, U.S.A, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
He has recorded 300 television sessions for artists such as Kris Kristofferson, Nanci Griffith, John Prine, Chip Taylor, Tony Joe White, Paul Carrick, Curtis Stigers, Steve Harley, Kirsty MacColl, Ian Dury, The Kinks, Leo Sayer, Neil Sedaka and Johnny Mathis. Other experience includes playing in various theatre productions, orchestral performances with the RTE National Symphony and Ulster Orchestras and composing music for three documentaries for Channel 4 and short film.
He has taught electric and classical guitar at Cork School of Music for four years on the B.A.P.M. and B.Mus degree programmes.
