Mary Bollard

Lecturer in Violin

Mary Bollard studied violin with John Vallery at Cork School of Music, holds an honours BMus from University College Cork and honours Masters Degree in Classical String Performance from University of Limerick. She has given many solo and chamber ensemble recitals in Ireland and the UK, has led both Cork Youth Orchestra and Cork Symphony Orchestra, has played and toured with national youth orchestras and played with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Mary taught violin and viola full time and coached young string orchestras while with Berkshire Young Musicians Trust, while coordinating a team of string teachers. In 2001, she returned to Cork to teach violin at Cork School of Music and trained in the Suzuki Teaching Method.

Mary has played for the late Emanuel Hurwitz CBE, Professor Mariana Sirbu, Professor Bruno Giurrano, and performed with members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra in collaborative projects at the University of Limerick.
