Description
Georgian Singing and Voice Exploration workshop with Frank Kane, Friday 11 November - Sunday 13 November 2022.
Frank Kane has studied Georgian polyphonic song, music and culture as well as energetic resonance and body-mind disciplines. He has also developed a distinctive approach using ancient Georgian chants as a medium of vocal expression and path of self-discovery and exploration; transforming the patterns that constrict the voice and leading us beyond the familiar.
At this workshop, we will use simple exercises and the celebrated polyphonic songs of Georgia in the Caucasus as a laboratory in which to expand the strength and depth of our voice and ourselves. Students of all levels of experience are welcomed – as a group we will range from singers with prior knowledge of the Georgian singing tradition to novice singers and those interested in exploring the potential of their voice.
We also intend to organise a supra on the Saturday night. This is a chance for us to meet up to share food, and a glass of wine and some songs. Traditionally, the Georgian supra is a feast and an important part of Georgian social culture so we will use the occasion to explore this side of the Georgian culture further. (Details to follow)
The cost of the workshop is €150. Early booking is advised as places are limited.
