Mairead Hickey was awarded 3rd prize worth €1,500 as well as the €500 prize for the best interpretation of a virtuoso work from a field of several hundred competitors.
Mairead studied violin in CIT Cork School of Music for ten years with renowned teacher Adrian Petcu and is now continuing her studies at the prestigious Kronberg Academy.
You can hear Mairead perform this coming Thursday 24 November at 8pm in the Curtis Auditorium CIT CSM Union Quay in the Ortus Chamber Music Festival with Ciara Moroney piano and fellow Corkonian cellist Sinead O Halloran, former student of Chris Marwood in CSM.
