The Maud O'Hanlon Perpetual Trophy

By: Noranne Elliott | Posted on: Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Maud O’Hanlon taught students of the piano in the Cork School of Music for over thirty years, and the Maud O’Hanlon Perpetual Trophy is awarded annually to the highest-placed student in the Grade 5 Piano Examination - the most distinguished student in the Intermediate Cycle.

The Jansson siblings – Ellen, Kevin & Anna have the unique distinction of each winning this trophy in turn and a piece of CSM history has been created.

It is all the more special in that Dad, Tom Jansson [CSM Lecturer] was a piano student of Maud O’Hanlon at CSM right up to grade 8 in the early 80s.

Congratulations to the Jansson Family on this very special achievement.

Photo below includes Roy O'Hanlon (son of Maud O'Hanlon), Tom Jansson, Marion McCarthy and their 3 children Ellen, Kevin & Anna along with Mary Beattie (CSM Lecturer) who teaches all 3 children.
